Remarks:

Nepenthes distillatoria is the only species of Sri Lanka. It belongs to the western species, due to morphologic and genetic dates it is one of the most primitive species of Nepenthes; one hint for that is the racemose flower. In Sri Lanka it can be found mainly at the central uplands at an altitude from usually 500 m above sealevel. Here, just few habitats still exist, where it can be found; a habitat near the capital Colombo near sea-level, where it has been so obvious and abundant, that even villages beared its local name. This lowland-population seems to be now dramatically reduced or even extinct!
